Physical Education

Physical Education is a vital component of our students' educational experience. It focuses on the dispositions, motor skills and knowledge components of physical education.

Mission
To nurture in all a love for physical health and fitness and be advocates through a wide range of physical and non-physical activities.

Vision
Physically fit students who have acquired the skills, knowledge and attitude to maintain a lifelong healthy lifestyle.

Using Bloom's Taxonomy as foundation for our learning objectives, we aim to develop the cognitive, psychomotor and affective domains of each student through developing in them the ability to:

1.    Perform and enjoy a variety of physical activities with understanding;

2.    Adopt and maintain physical health and fitness through regular participation in physical activities;

3.    Demonstrate positive self-esteem through body awareness and control;

4.    Understand and apply thinking skills to lessons;

5.    Demonstrate the spirit of fair play, teamwork and sportspersonship; and

6.    Carry out safe practices during physical activities.

Through our lessons, we aim to provide a natural platform for students to clarify and act on their personal values. The authentic setting allows for social interactions and demonstration of positive emotions as well as social behaviours. The interactive and problem-solving nature of physical activities provides opportunities for students to communicate positively with others, to source for information, as well as to think critically and creatively. Through carefully designed learning activities and 'teachable moments' in PE, students acquire sound moral values, develop social skills and higher order thinking skills, and 21st Century Competencies.
