Beyond his or her grades, a true CJCian embodies the traits of a thinker and a leader centred on values. The college would like to celebrate the academic and holistic achievements of the following outstanding CJCians:

Ellysya Lee Wei Zhen

Ellysya-2T32.jpgEmbodying the qualities of both a critical thinker and a leader with heart, Ellysya was self-directed in her studies and seized opportunities for personal growth. She represented the college in various events such as the 2014 Urban Redevelopment Authority’s Challenge for Urban Built Environment and applied her academic learning to solve real-world problems. Ellysya’s analytical ability enabled her to be a confident leader and mentor, where she was the female captain and the quartermaster for the college’s Canoeing team. Her stellar leadership abilities also extended to her role as a Home Tutorial Councillor for her class, where she was a mentor who helped her peers excel in their studies. She also volunteered to be a facilitator for the incoming batch of student leaders at the college’s Leadership Training Camp. Ellysya juggled different leadership roles well and took pride in helping her peers to develop their potential.

“Discipline and setting high expectations were factors that pushed me to always be on task. I reminded myself not to let down those who have been supporting me. It is important to embrace the struggle and no matter how tough it gets, always believe that the struggle is good.”

Annemarie Goh

Anne Marie - 2T06.jpgAnnemarie is an Archbishop scholar who was determined to excel in her studies and leadership. She was a consistent performer who achieved academic awards and was regularly featured on the Principal’s Honour Roll. Beyond her studies, she was active in developing herself as a leader, where she assumed the role of Secretary of both St. Vincent De Paul and her Class Management Committee. She also firmly believed in stepping out of her comfort zone to take on other roles such as emceeing for CJ Celebrates 2014 and was committed to helping the less privileged when she served in the Service Learning Project to Cambodia. Her commitment to her academic pursuits and her social obligations has enabled her to grow holistically as an individual who exhibits the values of a persistent learner and leader with a heart.

“I believe that a Thinker with a Mission has a purposeful goal; and being a Leader with a Heart means whatever you do is for the community and the people you are serving. I strive to be a servant leader in what I do. I take the time to listen to my teammates and try to understand them so that we can work towards our common goal.”

Jessica

Jessica-2T08.jpgAn independent and motivated learner, Jessica demonstrated an unyielding commitment towards learning and was focused in working towards her ambition of becoming a lawyer who holds true to the values of integrity and justice. With her positive attitude and her tenacity to stretch her growth, she pursued the Junior College Law Programme and developed herself as a leader through her role as Student Councillor and her designation within the Catholic Activities wing. Jessica contributed to the spiritual needs of the college community through two faith formation projects. A firm believer of servant leadership, Jessica also took on the role of a subject representative to serve her peers as well as getting involved in local community projects. These experiences are testament to her growth as both thinker and leader, and she remains committed to finding diverse opportunities to serve the community.

“‘Thinker with a Mission, Leader with a Heart’ resonates deeply with me. Being a student leader, there were definitely many trials and tribulations. I think the morning reflections and prayers helped me to focus and centre on my purpose.”

Mark Emmanuel Ramakrishnan

Mark-2T26.jpgMark exudes the qualities of a resilient learner and a dependable leader. His diligence and analytical approach towards his studies helped him to attain academic achievements and multiple placements on the Principal’s Honour Roll. Mark’s enthusiasm for his subjects would push him to satisfy his thirst for knowledge through self-directed research and his passion for learning often won the praises of his tutors and peers. To develop his leadership skills, he became a member of the executive committee in First Aid Club and was in charge of logistics. He pushed for purposeful training and coordinated programmes with external organisations, as he firmly believed in the greater purpose of his co-curricular activity. With a deep sense of mission, Mark continues to pursue opportunities to help him develop his potential as thoughtful leader.

“All my teachers were crucial to my success. The CJC community has been very supportive towards my learning and I feel inspired to continue giving back to the college and the wider community for the many opportunities that I have been blessed with.”

Mrs Christine Kong, the Principal of CJC, celebrates the growth in the Class of 2015. “They have distinguished themselves by pursuing a growth mindset in their studies and remaining committed to serving the college and the wider community. The college would like to congratulate the students who worked hard and overcame the odds to achieve commendable results at the ‘A’ levels. Through their experiences, they have demonstrated the distinct qualities of a Thinker with a Mission, Leader with a Heart. We encourage this cohort to stay true to their mission and serve the greater good of the community. When they uphold the values and ethos of the college, they help to spread the CJC flame of truth and love.”

Mr Eric Lee, Vice Principal added, “To the Class of 2015, we pray that your experiences in CJC will help to shape you as the thinker and leader that you have been called to be, and take on the future challenges wisely and courageously.”

The college would like to extend its appreciation to the Teachers and Support Staff, Parent Support Group, the School Management Committee and the Alumni for their generous support and prayers for the students.

In veritate et caritate.
