Excitement and anticipation filled the air on 16 Jan 2018 as Catholic Junior College opened its doors to prospective students and parents for our annual Open House. The heavy downpour did not stop many people from making their way to the College to be a part of the CJ experience. Upon registration, prospective students were handed an activity passport whereupon completion of four unique activities, they could redeem a limited edition CJC power bank.
The excitement and energy level was high as prospective students and their parents embarked on college tours facilitated by student guides, showcasing all that CJC had to offer - from special rooms that enhance collaborative learning, to our Performing Arts Centre amongst other facilities. Micro-lessons were also conducted by subjects including Geography, Mathematics and English Language and Linguistics to give prospective students a teaser of various subjects that are taught at the Junior College level. The Principal’s talk was extremely well received, as visitors learnt more about the higher education landscape in Singapore and walked away with more information to make a better choice.
Long meandering queues formed in front of the popcorn and cotton candy machines, with everyone eager to get their free portion of sweet treats to partake in while watching the performances of the Performing Arts Groups. This year, the Houses put up a cheering and dance event, allowing visitors to experience our vibrant and tight-knit CJC house system. The Open House culminated in the Mass Dance conducted by the Orientation Group Leaders as they performed the year's orientation dance, enticing both current and prospective students to dance along, in true CJ spirit.
