Future Ready Singapore Panel Discussion 2016

On 1 March 2016, students in CJC were given the opportunity to gain insight into the working world and existing career opportunities through a Panel Discussion on ‘Future Ready Singapore’. Two guests, Mr Yoong Ee Chuan, Chairman of the Nanyang Polytechnic Co-Operative (Campus Sector) as well as Mr Tan Kwang Cheak, Director of the Human Resource and Talent Development Division of The Ministry of Health Holdings (MOHH), were invited as panelists to provide insight on their industry and the working world. They provided valuable information on the attitudes, skills and values required as students enter Higher Education and the Workforce. In addition, they shared how their organisations have acted in the face of challenges that have helped Singapore to move towards the future.

During the Question & Answer session, the JC2 students demonstrated a forward-looking mindset in the questions they posed to speakers. These questions ranged from those related to current affairs or specific questions on the industries they were interested in. The main thread that stood out for many students was the recurring theme of the need to be willing to step out of comfort zones to seize opportunities presented. With such a mindset, the youth of today can cultivate what it takes to go further than generations before them.
