To mark the beginning of a new chapter for the JC2 students, Catholic Junior College warmly welcomed their parents to the college on 19 and 20 January 2016 with the purpose of providing vital information about the JC2 programme and establishing a common understanding on the support required to prepare for the GCE A-Level examinations at the end of the year.

The sessions were held at the Performing Arts Centre (PAC) where parents and CJCians were treated to a vibrant presentation depicting student engagement in various activities in the stretch programmes such as the Overseas Service Learning Programme (OSLP) and Outward Bound Singapore (OBS) which took place during the December holidays.

Our Principal, Mrs Christine Kong, opened the session with a speech. She began by thanking parents for taking time off their hectic schedules to attend the session and then proceeded to stress the importance of the collaborative approach taken by the college in supporting CJCians along a challenging yet meaningful journey in JC2.

The highlight of Mrs Kong’s speech was the changing landscape of higher education in Singapore. She noted that the admissions process into universities has become more rigorous. It is thus critical for CJCians to be actively involved in non-academic programmes and embody the college motto “Thinker with a Mission, Leader with a Heart”. Concluding her speech, Mrs Kong reiterated that success for each student is a tripartite effort between teachers, parents and students that has to be coupled with a growth mindset.

Parents then had the opportunity to interact with Home Tutors in their respective homerooms. The JC2 Parents Information Evening provided a platform for effective communication for various stakeholders who want only the best for the leaders of tomorrow.
