Badminton
All students with a keen interest and playing experience in the game are welcome to join this CCA. Badminton can be a high-intensity game that is tremendous in building up personal responsibility for health and fitness. There will be opportunities for all to train but only a selected dozen will represent the college for the National Schools Competition.
Basketball
CJC Basketball offers those passionate about basketball to explore their creative side. Members are given the opportunity to expand their basketball knowledge and techniques, and there are always opportunities for competition in the National School Games. While experience is preferred, anyone who is willing to work hard is welcome!
Canoeing
Mentis Opprimo Materia – Latin for Mind over Matter – has been the motto of the CJ Canoeing team. This CCA is for students with a passion for water sports, who enjoy high-intensity sports and who are resilient. While experience in rowing is preferred, those with passion are also welcome. Join Canoeing for the competitiveness, camaraderie and love for water sports!
Cross Country
CJ Cross Country caters to students who want to keep fit and stay fit with just a pair of shoes, make a lifetime of friends, and race against themselves as they make new personal bests. Members will have opportunities to participate in these competitions: Wings Cross Country Championships, Akira Swift Cross Country Championships, and NSG Cross Country.
Fencing
The CJC Fencing team welcomes both experienced fencers and those new to fencing. Fencing is for students who want to develop critical thinking and a sense of discipline through expert training and competition opportunities. It instils self-discipline, hones the ability to think on one’s feet and cultivates immense self-control. Members will each be required to purchase a full set of fencing attire and the corresponding weapon category they are participating in.
Floorball
CJC Floorball offers students who are passionate about Floorball to showcase their talents. Members are given the opportunity to expand their floorball techniques and skills. While experience is preferred, the Floorball team welcomes anyone who is willing to train hard. It is preferred that students acquire their own personal stick.
Football
Football, the beautiful game, is one sporting development opportunity for students. The CJC Football team takes pride in their players demonstrating creativity and fitness on the field. Players planning to vie for a spot in the squad will demonstrate the following attributes: Overall Technical Ability (ball control, passing, shooting and dribbling), Tactical Ability (awareness, transition, positioning and decision-making) and Overall Physical Fitness (agility, speed, endurance and strength).
Judo
Judo is not simply an ancient Japanese martial art form but a way of life. It translates as “the gentle way” in English. In CJC Judo, students will learn the value of humility and respect, as well as the importance of tactical thinking over absolute strength. Judo is a fulfilling sport where students learn skills that stay with them for life.
Netball
Netball is a fast-paced, exciting, non-contact team game that builds camaraderie and fighting spirit. Regardless of past experience, the CJ Netball team is a good base to start playing in a safe environment. There will be opportunities to compete or just play for leisure.
Rugby (2nd CCA)
The CJC Rugby team focuses on Rugby 7s and touch rugby, and welcomes all who are interested to learn the game – a tough but honourable and distinguished sport for gentlemen.
Shooting
Shooting is a precision sport and an invitation to develop needle-sharp focus and grace under pressure. Though experience is preferred, the CJ Shooting team is really looking for great learners and team players who are raring to go!
Swimming
CJC Swimming welcomes both novice and experienced swimmers. Besides conducting strength training and learning about competitive swimming, members also receive guidance in enhancing strokes and learning new things about the sport. CJC Swimming is for students who want to swim with style and confidence. While experience is preferred, the team welcomes anyone who has passion in swimming!
Tennis
Tennis teaches sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, hard work, team bonding, and forehands, backhands, serves and volleys. It is a fulfilling sport which provides students with useful life skills. Opportunities to develop and compete are available to ensure that CCA time is well spent. All are welcome to join the CJC Tennis team, regardless of playing experience and skill level.
Tenpin Bowling
CJ Bowling welcomes all bowling enthusiasts, regardless of their past experience in the sport. Interested students should be willing to learn and be team players. While the team aims to prepare members for the ‘A’ Division National Championships where they would have the chance to gain glory for the college, the team is equally committed to ensuring members’ holistic development in character and leadership.
Track and Field
CJC Track and Field is for students who are interested in sprints, jumps, hurdles, throws, and distance, and who wish to improve multiple skill sets and compete against the best. With a dedicated team of coaches, members can challenge themselves and push the limits! Opportunities for the following competitions are available: SA Pre-NSG Meet 1 and 2, SA Relays Championships, and National School Games Track and Field Championships.
Ultimate Frisbee (2nd CCA)
Ultimate (some people know it as “Frisbee”) is a sport that has been rising in popularity in recent years and is a completely self-refereed game that focuses on “Spirit of the Game” which emphasises the fun that everyone experiences through fair play.
CJ Ultimate started as an interest group and is now coached by our very own active alumni of more than 3 generations. As a 2nd CCA, our members join out of pure passion, and build resilience through managing their time well. As a result, we are a close-knit family who values the camaraderie and respect for all in the team.
Volleyball
CJC Volleyball offers students the opportunity to build character through achieving sporting excellence and working in teams. There are both girls and boys teams, helmed by two experienced coaches and guided by four teachers. Together, the team strives to impart life skills such as resilience and effective communication via the exciting game of volleyball. As a unique team sport that demands a high level of teamwork, CJC Volleyball envisions that our students will develop discipline and sportsmanship, and forge meaningful friendships.
Students who have prior experience in the sport will have numerous opportunities to share their expertise with their teammates, and continue to excel in the sport and explore leadership opportunities. Those who are keen to learn a new sport are also welcome! CJC Volleyball has two competitive teams representing the college and non-competitive teams, where training sessions are about learning through game play.
