Congratulations to National Day Award 2022 Recipients
Mr Philip Alvar, Vice Principal (Administration), Catholic Junior College (CJC), was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) (Pingat Pentadbiran Awam) (Gangsa) in recognition of his outstanding efficiency, competence and industry as a public officer. Mr Alvar had also received the Long Service Medal (Military) (Pingat Bakti Setia) (Tentera) in 2006 and the Commendation Medal (Military) (Pingat Penghargaan) (Tentera) in 2004.
Mdm Chua Mui Ling, Dorothy, Lead Teacher, English Department, and Mr Bernard Yeong, Head of Department (Chemistry), were conferred the Commendation Medal (Pingat Kepujian) for their distinguished service through commendable performance and conduct, significant efficiency, competence and devotion to duty.

The Long Service Medal (Pingat Bakti Setia) was awarded to Mr Conrad Lee, Senior Teacher, English Department, Mr Lester Low, Teacher, Humanities Department, Ms Yoong Lian Teen and Ms Chew Tyng Huey, Teachers from the Mathematics Department. This Medal is awarded to persons who have completed at least 25 years of service and are of irreproachable character.
Mr Ivan Yeo Ken Jin, a member of the CJC School Management Committee and an alumni from the Class of 1997, was conferred the Public Administration Medal (Silver) (Pingat Pentadbiran Awam) (Perak) this year in recognition of his outstanding efficiency, competence and industry.
NUS University Professor Tan Chorh Chuan (Class of 1977)
In addition, we congratulate National University of Singapore (NUS) University Professor Tan Chorh Chuan (Class of 1977), Ministry of Health’s (MOH) Chief Health Scientist and concurrently Executive Director of the Ministry’s Office for Healthcare Transformation, on being conferred The Distinguished Service Order (Darjah Utama Bakti Cemerlang), the highest honours at this year’s National Day Awards.
Prof Tan also received the Long Service Medal (Pingat Bakti Setia) in 2022, the Meritorious Medal (Pingat Jasa Gemilang) in 2015, the Public Administration Medal (Gold) (Pingat Pentadbiran Awam) (Emas) in 2004, and the Public Service Star (Bintang Bakti Masyarakat) in 2003 for Overcoming SARS.
Mrs Phyllis Lim, Principal, said, “Our warmest congratulations to all recipients of the National Day Awards this year. We are grateful for the many years of dedicated service and contributions by our staff, members of the CJ School Management Committee (SMC) and CJ alumni and we thank God for their continued service to the college, community and the nation.”
